The work consists of furnishing all plant, including floating plant, labor, materials and equipment; and replacing seals and installing cathodic protection anodes; and refurbishing and painting five tainter gates at Jonesville Lock and Dam and four tainter gates at Columbia Dam. Principal features of the work includes replacing the lower one foot of each gate; removing the j-bulb seals; removing, saving and reinstalling seal support angels; fasteners and cathodic protection anodes; protecting hoist cables, operating machinery and control panels from sand blast and paint; removal of paint containing 39.8 to 83.4 mg/kg of lead; sandblasting the gates and strut arm to white metal, painting with vinyl zinc-rich primer and vinyl paint to Corps of Engineers specification 5-E-Z; installing and adjusting new j-bulb seals and new cathodic protection anodes and performing environmental protection at both sites. The estimated value of the proposed work is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00.
