Recorder must have 4 analog channels @ 160KHz and 8 channels @ 80KHz (expandable to 16 channels @ 40KHz), 16 bit quantization with variable speed record/playback (to 32 hours record time at reduced bandwidth), standard serial digital, time code and voice channels, pre-trigger recording and multiple power source capability.
