The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Admin has a requirement for aa 25mm
and 50mm vacuum stage system, calibration, IDAC axis controller,
amplifier card and software. The PALMS (Particle Analysis by Laser Mass
Spectroscopy) Instrument requires a high precision, vacuum compatible
micropositioner system with the following characteristics: sub-micron
resolution and repeatability, speeds of at least 0.5mm/second, vacuum
compatible to 10-5 Torr, total range of at least 25mm, and a total
package size of less than 2 inches by 2 inches by three inches. It is
the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source
basis to Anorad Corporation of Hauppauge, NY. We have purchased an
initial system of one micropositioner and one controller from Anorad
Corp. so that we could verify the suitability of this system for the
PALMS instrument. This system has proven to be reliable and meets the
required specifications. We now need to purchase the remaining
components to finish equipping the PALMS. This procurement is being
conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE
$100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive
solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this
notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of
competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the
Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to
this requirement. No RFQ is available. All technical questions should
be addressed to David Thompson, 303 497-3429. Posted 02/04/99
