The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) intends to award a purchase order (PO) for the management and software support for Hewlett Packard (HP) UNIX based operating systems software. The HP software products are on a UNIX server platform. The contractor must provide PTO notification (within 24 hours) of releases of any new versions of HP U/X software, including but not limited to revisions, updates, fixes, patches, and other items associated with the support of the software. The contractor must provide PTO with 6 handles (3 operations and 2 OSAE, and 1 OSDM) which will permit PTO to download the latest versions, and any subsequent mailing versions of HP-UX. Versions downloaded by the contractor shall be delivered to PTO within 48 hours upon receipt. The contractor must provide PTO with access to the HP UX hotlines for all HP UX servers. The contractor must provide software support to include but not limited to establishing a helpdesk on a 24-hours/ 7 days per week basis. The contractor must provide,at a minimum, five (5) copies of all software products and documentation with unlimited rights for downloading from the HP web sites. The contractor must possess the experience in both managing and providing software support of HP/UX products/services. Software support will include the following services: interface on-site with PTO personnel to accurately determine all software products that have been purchased and/or loaded; maintain an ongoing inventory of all software products and patches loaded; provide monthly reports of software updates and patches (installed and available); forward all manuals and manual updates; and provide an early warning of all software service alerts posted by HP. The contractor shall possess the following expert skills and knowledge, but not limited to: HP-UX 700 Series (all levels); HP-UX 800 Series (all levels); HP-UX Versions 9.04 and later; HP Servers (include but not limited to "K", "T" and "V" series), network integration, system integration (HP and Non-HP hardware); software management; telecommunications (interconnectivity); HP Pre Sales/Technical Certification; and customer service skills. The PO will have a base year and 3 option years to be funded and exercised, on an as needed basis. This contract will be negotiated using the commercial item simplified acquisition procedures FAR 12.603 through the receipt of a written proposal.
