NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) 5-06350-237 for three 2048 X 2048 (2K X 2K) Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) Detector Assemblies. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Rockwell Science Center located in Thousand Oaks, California. The authority for this action is FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. Rockwell is uniquely qualified to meet the schedule constraints for the required deliverables through its existing technology base (e.g., designs, drawings, and support equipment). Specifically, the Government requires three, engineering grade, 2048 X 2048 MCT element detector arrays with a hybridized readout integrated circuit. The following specifications apply: 1. Responsive wavelenght .4-1.7 micrometers with QE > 50% 2. Dark current: Minimum <1e/pixel-sec at 150K Goal <.1e/pixel-sec at 150K 3. Minimum Operability >90% 4. Read Noise <25 electrons at 150K The required delivery schedule for the items is 6 months after contract award. The Government anticipatesthe award of firm fixed price contract. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. RFP will be released on or about 21 days after publication of this synopsis in the CBD. Firm date for receipt of proposals will be stated in the RFP. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
