The items to be specified are Smith and Loveless, Inc., Marine Fast D4S Sewage Treatment Plant and Smith and Loveless, Inc., 7' Custom Series Pump Station. This equipment is identical to treatment plants installed at other Air Force Long Range Radar sites. Standardization of all equipment would allow for interchangeability of parts and allow roving site personnel familiarity with a complicated system without additional training. Installation of other equipment would substantially increase operating costs and increase the possibility of release of pathogenic organisms to the environment due to operator unfamiliarity.
