Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates awarding a task
order contract for instructional multimedia production services. This
is a total small business set- aside, SIC code 7379. Instructional
multimedia has become a key strategy through which the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is able to tackle the challenge of
building needed skills in public health workers at all levels and at
any location. CDC is well prepared with the technical subject matter
needed by the public health workforce. This information and know-how
has traditionally been delivered via live, classroom style instruction.
In recent years, CDC has migrated in the direction of developing
instruction that is delivered at a distance using media such as
satellite-based video conferences, computer-based instruction, and
web-based instruction. These methods have proven to be effective ways
for CDC to reach the public health workforce. The purpose of this
contract is to provide a vehicle for the production ofinstructional
multimedia which are meaningful instructional experiences for public
health audiences. Multimedia products are instructional experiences
designed for specific audiences and can employ such media as hypertext,
graphics, animation, video, and audio. The products obtainable through
this contract fall into one of the following categories: (1)
Internet-based -- For example: web site designed as interactive
web-based training, web site to deliver instructional content via
video/audio streaming, Internet- based performance support application
(i.e., job aid), and Internet-based learner support tools; (2)
Computer-based -- For example: CD-ROM containing a tutorial,
simulation, reference tool, or combination; and (3) A combination of
Internet and Computer-based. The scheduled issue date is approximately
