Hart, (703) 492-3342 The Direct Reporting Program Manager (DRPM) for
the U.S. Marine Corps Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) is
conducting market research to determine the commercial availability of
a lightweight, durable, corrosion resistant Laser Warning System (LWS)
for the AAAV. The Marine Corps wants to purchase a sufficient number of
LWSs to carry out validation testing. The LWSs must be available by 1
March 2000 in order to conduct testing prior to selection. The LWSs
must detect LRFs, LTDs, and IR illuminators and provide audiovisual
analysis of the threats over 360 degrees in azimuth from 20 degrees to
90 degrees in elevation. The LWSs must be capable of withstanding the
extreme marine environment as well as the high structural loads
occurring during routine operation of a 76,000 lb tracked vehicle.
