This is an amendment to NASA Research Announcement (NRA) 99-OSS-01, entitled Research Opportunities in Space Science -1999 (ROSS-99), released January 19, 1999. This amendment solicits basic research proposals for two new program elements in addition to those presented in the original NRA, which will be available on or about March 3, 1999, via the World Wide Web site: http://spacescience.nasa.gov/research.htm. The first new program element is entitled "Energetics and Dynamics of the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere: TIMED/CEDAR Collaborative Studies," for which Notices of Intent to propose are due on or about April 2 and proposals are due on or about June 1, 1999. The second new program element is entitled "Planetary Suborbital Research" for which Notices of Intent to propose are due on or about April 9 and proposals are due on or about June 8, 1999. All proposal policies and format for these new program elements are identical to those in the original ROSS-99 NRA. Participation is open to all categories of organizations, foreign and domestic, including industry, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other Government agencies.
