Energy (DOE) intends to conduct a competitive Program Solicitation and
award financial assistance (grants) to all interested parties for
research and development that provide advanced concepts and enabling
science that will help bring into existence new processes to provide
the nation's needs for fuels and chemicals of the future. Both the
processes leading to these fuels and chemical and their products must
make substanital contributions toward meeting the higher new goals for
energy efficiency, environmental acceptabiity, and reduction of
greenhouse gas emissions that have been set, for example, by the Vision
21 concept.The Program Solicitation is expected to be released February
5, 1999 and will close on March 26, 1999. The solicitation will be
released on DOE's FETC World Wide Web Server Internet System at
