The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) is issuing a Program Announcement to solicit proposals for the Fiscal Year 1999 (FY99) Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP). Approximately $50 million dollars have been appropriated to fund peer reviewed research. The overall mission of the PCRP is to promote the rapid development of new ideas to conquer prostate cancer. Specific goals of the PCRP are to pursue innovative approaches for prostate cancer research, to fund those ideas that demonstrate an early applicability to prostate cancer treatment, and to bring new investigators into the field of prostate cancer research. The FY99 research program areas of emphasis will be biology, prevention and therapy. Based on program goals and the anticipated level of funding, proposals are solicited in a variety of categories.
