Department of the Interior, is soliciting proposals from construction
firms having the capability to perform the work described below. A
negotiated firm-fixed price contract will be awarded, requiring
submission of both a technical and a price proposal. The Government
will consider an offeror's capability in comparison to its price. The
work of this contract consists of general demolition/deconstruction and
removal of over 100 buildings of varying size and related structures,
including but not limited to asphalt pavement, utilities, concrete
slabs and foundations, concrete steps, wood decks, walks and steps and
various small wood structures in the giant Forest. The work includes
the removal and disposal of hazardous materials contained in any of the
structures to be demolished (asbestos, lead paint, PCB's, and Mercury).
New utility construction is also included in the contract consisting of
placement of electrical transformers, meters, underground electrical,
telephone and propane lines and conduit. This contract also includes
the rehabilitation of two historic structures in Giant Forest for
re-use and related site work. The market building rehabilitation
includes but is not limited to replacing the roof structure, foundation
improvements, insulation, installation of a new heating system, salvage
and re-use of interior paneling, new plumbing, renovation of interior
spaces, rehabilitation of doors and windows, and new lighting. The
comfort station will also be rehabilitated. -- All requests for project
documents must be made in writing. A non-refundable bid deposit for
project documents is $250 per set, 3 set maximum, in the form of a
cashier's check, certified check, or money order made payable to the
National Park Service. Include Social Security Number or Taxpayer
Identification Number on check or money order. Project Documents may
also be viewed at various plan rooms. Individuals wishing to receive a
list of plan rooms should contact the issuing office. -- Estimated
price range, $5,000,000 to $7,500,000. Completion date, December 1,
2000. -- Bid opening date is approximate; actual date will be
established at the time bidding documents are available. -- All
responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered. Posted
