703/602-0201 The Naval Sea System Command intends to procure one LM
2500 Gas Generator and Gas Generator Installation Kit through the
placement of an order on Department of the Air Force Basic Ordering
Agreement F34601-97-G-0001 to General Electric Aircraft Engine Company
of Cincinnati, Ohio. The LM 2500 is used exclusively on all U.S. Navy
surface combatant ships for main propulsion. With over 450 engines in
the fleet, no other engine provides the required interfaces within the
propulsion system. General Electric Aircraft Engines is the original
equipment manufacturer of the LM 2500 and the only company that
possesses the necessary information to perform these requirements. No
other source has the technical qualifications and the necessary
resources to perform the work described herein, nor will any other
supplies or services satisfy the Navy's requirements. Companies
