The VA Medical Center requires a firm to perform design services to provide construction documents and construction period services for Project 523-99-802,Replace Sanitary Piping, at the VA Medical Center, 150 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130-4893. The project design is to include the replacement of a corrosive piping draining system and the replacement of the roof piping drainage system in Building One at the medical center. The A/E firm selected for the design shall be required to perform all the necessary site survey work such as on-site investigation and review of existing record drawings and existing asbestos survey reports and to provide construction cost estimates. The selected A/E firm shall be required to retain the services of a Certified Industrial Hygientist to provide expertise in all aspects of monitoring, assessment,abatement,demolition, removal and disposal of asbestos within the scope of the project. Firms should have the capability of producing construction drawings on a computer-aided drafting and design system(CADD)compatible with Autocad release 14. Selection will be based on recent specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required, professional qualification of staff and consultants to be assigned to the project, past performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry in terms of quality of work, cost control, compliance with performance schedules and other appropriate evaluation criteria. Estimated construction cost is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Award is Subject to the Availability of Funds. Firms must be located within a 200 mile radius of Boston, Massachusetts. All responsible firms desiring consideration should submit completed SF-254's and SF-255's by the Close of Business 3/17/99 (See Note number 24). This is not a Request for Proposal.
