JANICE FINKELSTEIN, jfinkel@pica.army.mil. The Product Manager -- Small
Arms at the U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command, U.S. Army
Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC),
will release a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a phased non-develop- mental
program for contractor loaned remotely operated weapon/sensor systems
for integration and demonstration on various vehicles during FY99. A
remote weapon platform is being sought for the basic need to provide
for under armor/remote operation of crew served weapons. This program
seeks to pursue systems that meet the basic need and which are also
capable of growth to accommodate Army program and plans (interface with
other sensors, digitization, etc). Such a platform will increase
capabilities of current crew served weapons. The efforts involved will
consist of the contractor describing their system and its operation
with the system present to demonstrate that it clearly meets the
requirements. Possibly physical integration into vehicles, and
interface of hardware and integrated onto each vehicle. The vehicles
the system shall be integrated onto are as follows, however, it should
be noted that the systems are not just restricted to these vehicles:
PALADIN, FAASV, and the Abrams M1A1. Interested sources may submit an
offer which will be considered. The U.S. Army intends to issue a
non-competitive Request for Quotation to Recon/Optical, Inc., POD
Division. See Note 22. Posted 02/16/99 (D-SN298591). (0047) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0134 19990218\12-0003.SOL)
