GOVERNMENT-INDUSTRY TEAM" Strike, Land Attack & Air Defense Annual
Symposium #910 Johns Hopkins University Applied Research Laboratory
Laurel, Maryland April 20, 1999 Missile technology is proliferating at
an alarming rate. Ballistic missiles are in the hands of potential
enemies. Cruise missiles of every type are worldwide. New weapons of
mass destruction are being developed. Time is running out for a robust

role of the Navy and Marine Corps in joint theater missile defense.
What will be the new operational concepts? How will the explosive
technological advances in threat detection, data transfer, network
connectivity, precision guidance, solid state electronics, computer
engineering, and display devices affect the development, system
engineering, production, and employment of theater missile defense
systems? How can the laboratories and industry help in meeting the
theater missile defense challenges in the 21st Century? The morning
session will be devotedto requirements, operational concepts,
