The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) is looking for private sector jail facilities to house prisoners in the San Diego area. The current estimate is for housing of up to 750 prisoners (this figure may change when the solicitations are issued). This requirement includes providing guards for hospitalized prisoners, and transportation to and from the facility to the federal courthouse. The prisoners are primarily pre-trial federal prisoners from the USMS District Southern California, but may include other categories of prisoners, e.g. sentenced prisoners awaiting assignment to a federal prison.
