Contractor to replace all existing Central Sprinkler Co. Omega Model C1-A, C1-A Pro and HEC-12 (side wall) sprinkler heads in Buildings 131 & 133. New sprinkler heads and escutcheons for type C-1 and HEC-12 to be provided by the VA Medical Center. Replacement heads for type C1-A Pro (tamper resistant) to be provided by the contractor. Approximately 2325 type CA-1/HEC-12 and 275 type C1-A sprinkler heads are to be replaced. Bidders are to account for replacement of all 2600 sprinkler heads in their bid and provide a unit cost for any changes from this amount. The unit cost will be used for both add or deduct charges. Contractor is responsible for shutdown, draining and filling of sprinkler system each day. All sprinkler systems are to be operational at the end of each work day. Existing sprinkler piping systems in both buildings are a combination of CPVC and steel piping. All work to be completed in accordance with Specification and NFPA 13.
