The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has a requirement to
simplify the weather retrieval process and expand the sources of data
to include products from FNMOC, AFWA, NCEP, and international weather
offices. The long-term objective is to have HASCAL/SCIPUFF request and
retrieve the best obtainable weather data, based on the scenario input
by the user, from any MDS, or future locations such as EUCOM, AFWA, or
other locations. In the short term (3-6 months) future servers will go
on line and Inter-MDS Communication System (IMCS) tested to route
request files to the appropriate server. Server connectivity
encompasses users of unclassified systems, classified systems such as
SIPRNET, and special intelligence system such as JWICS. The primary
hardware architecture is the PC, Windows 3.1 or higher; however,
optional portability on UNIX platform exists. Potential transition to
a Client-Server architecture will be investigated and possibly executed
under this work. Code shall be modular and allow for easeof
modification by other programmers in the event of data format changes
and allow for the addition of other data types in the future. The
subject solicitation will be provided on the DTRA Homepage ONLY at
www.dswa.mil/dswaproc/cont_act.htm. No hardcopy will be provided. All
amendments to the solicitation (including questions and answers) will
also appear on the home page. It will be your responsibility to view
the home page frequently to note any changes or updates. The
solicitation for this effort will be issued on or about 8 March 1999.
