Brooks AFB is acqiring on a sole source basis with the College of American Pathologists yearly accreditations and surveys (laboratory tests) of worldwide Air Force hospital and clinical laboratories. The program consists of accreditations and different surveys required by the using activities to meet the requirements contained in DoD Clinical Laboratories Improvement Program (CLIP) and the requirements of Public Law 100-578, 31 Oct 88. This is mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services. In accordance with CLIP as designated by AFI 44-102, para 3.37.1, the College of American Pathologists is the only approved source that will satisfy agency requirements. Failure to receive this accreditation will result in the Air Force laboratories' inability to meet the Health and Human Services laboratory accreditation requirements IAW PL 100-578.
