Freeman Lake Dam Repair Project consists of repairs to an existing dam. Construction activities will include: excavating the eastern third of the dam; excavating and preparing a cutoff trench; trenching into rock and pouring a concrete deaphragm wall; installing a granular seepage drainage system; reconstructing the embankment; cement grouting the east abutment; and installing a slide gate on the existing principal spillway riser structure. Approximate construction quantities for the project include: earthwork (embankment/excavation) -- 70,000 cubic yards; cutoff trench excavation, 3,000 cubic yards; concrete diaphragm wall, 400 linear feet; cement grout, 2,000 cubic yards; sand, 2,300 cubic yards; crushed stone, 500 cubic yards; High Density PE Pipe, 800 linear feet; one slide gate. Other items to be utilized include: mobile office; surveying; geotextiles; stone of various sizes; sand; concrete; piezometers. The estimated price is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. All offers must be accompanied byeither a cashier's check from a federally-insured financial institution or a corporate surety bond acceptable to the U.S. Treasury in the amount of 5% of the bid amount. This contract will be awarded by the City of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and a contract will not be awarded to a firm in which any official of the City of Elizabethtown, employees of its consulting engineers, or any member of their immediate families have direct or indirect interest in the pecuniary profits of contracts. All work shall be completed within 180 calendar days after the receipt of the Notice to Proceed and the estimated start date is May 1, 1999.
