13 -- NON-TOXIC AMMUNITION DUE 031599 POC Procurement Technician, Erin Wofford (912)267-3297 or Contract Specialist, Patricia Newman (912)267-3171 This is a "Sources Sought Notice" issued by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, GA, for the purpose of seeking qualified sources for non-toxic training ammunition in the calibers and gauges shown herein. The performance of this ammunition must reasonably replicate interior and exterior ballistic qualities of leaded ammunition and be made to SAAMI specification for dimension and pressure. This non-toxic ammunition must be within the permissible exposure limits established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and, when fired, will not generate a hazardous waste as listed under 40 CFR. Reloaded ammunition is unacceptable. This non-toxic ammunition must be suitable for use on indoor or outdoor ranges and velocity may not exceed 1,700 feet per second, must function normally in all common law enforcement weapons without a requirement to alter such weapons, must not damage such weapons, shall not expose the shooter to toxic materials listed by the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) threshold limit values or OSHA as listed in 29 CFR 1910. Any supplier will be required to provide testing data verifying compliance with detailed performance specifications listed in any future Request for Proposal. Suppliers will be given the broadest possible latitude for the design of propellant, primer and bullet consistent with safety and performance requirements; any ammunition procured will be subject to testing by the FLETC or other designated testing facility. Possible calibers/gauges and estimated quantities: .38 Special/625MX rounds, .357 Magnum/95MX rounds, .380 Cal/142MX rounds, .45 ACP/240MX rounds, .40 S&W/3500MX rounds, 9MM/5200MX rounds, 10MM/13.5MX rounds, .223 Cal/675MX rounds, .308 Cal/26MX rounds, 7.62X39MM/10MX rounds, and 12 GA(various loads)/325MX rounds.
