POC Roberta Buskirk, (703) 605-4823 Passport In Time (PIT) is a U.S.
Forest Service (FS) volunteer program providing opportunities for
individuals and families to work with professional archaeologists and
historians on historic preservation projects on national forests and
grasslands nationwide. The PIT Traveler, announcing the current
season's opportunities, is published twice a year in March and
September. The contractor will function as the Volunteer Clearinghouse
for the PIT program by providing administrative services including,
but not limited to: (1)development, production, and distribution of the
PIT Traveler; (2) providing an 800 number, PIT Web page, and Intenernet
address; (3) volunteer services including answering phone and e-mail
inquiries and accepting volunteer applications via phone, fax, e-mail,
and regular mail; (4) coordination of volunteer applications with the
individual PIT project leaders on FS field units; (5) distribution of
PIT program materials (buttons, rubber stamps, passports, etc.) to PIT
project leaders; and (6) development and maintenance of databases of
people and projects. Intended contract is for 1 year with 4 option
