COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 24,1999 PSA#228999 -- TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL BUSINESSES IN ADVANCED
TECHNOLOGIES (TADSBAT) NASA Invites All Small Businesses, Small
Disadvantaged Businesses, Historically Black Colleges and Universities
and Minority Institutions to a Course on Winning NASA Contracts NASA
has designed a course focusing on areas of business management that are
critical for success in competing for winning NASA contracts and
subcontracts. The NASA course is known as Training and Development of
Small Businesses in Advanced Technologies (TADSBAT). The Internet Home
Page for the NASA Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization contains additional information on this program at:
http://www.hq.nasa.gov/codeK or http://www.mta-inc.com BACKGROUND:
NASA's Fiscal Year 1990 Appropriations Bill, Public Law 101-144 and its
amended version Public Law 101-507, included a requirement that the
Agency annually award at least eight percent of the total value of its
contracts and subcontracts to Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB's).
In the legislation, the SDB definition was expanded to include small
women-owned businesses, Historically Black Colleges and Universities
and Minority Institutions (e.g. Tribal College and Hispanic Serving
Institutions). The TADSBAT course was created to increase the business
management capabilities of these firms and institutions so that they
would successfully compete for and win NASA business. Since 1994, NASA
has provided this training to over 200 businesses with overwhelming
success. The course is offered FREE (no registration fee). ELIGIBILITY
