Graves, Contracting Officer, 256-842-7147 E-MAIL: See e-mail addresses below., siddavis@redstone.army.mil; gravesj@redstone.army.mil. The U.S. Army along with other DOD branches is conducting a market research for heavy fuel engines (HFE) to power unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and for power generators. The army's HFE requirement is for UAVs with ranges from 50 km to 200 km and vehicle weights of 250 lbs to nominally 1650 lbs. The purpose for this market research is to develop a database of current and potential industry capability to meet the Army's and OSD's needs for HFEs. The primary focus of this research will be on small businesses that currently have HFEs well into the development stage or have working prototypes. Interested parties will submit required information and be prepared to conduct technical presentations, demonstrations and detailed technical discussions. The presentations and demonstrations will be required to be of sufficient quality appropriate for Army leadership, Senior Executive Services personnel, and congressional staff. The presentations should not exceed 4 hours. The detailed technical discussions will be conducted with JTUAV technical representatives. Potential providers will be required to backup their technical discussions with data sufficient to support their claims. The detailed technical discussions may last up to three days. Participation is voluntary. All costs associated with this effort would be borne by the contractor. All responses must be forwarded to Ms. Sidney Davis by close of business 25 Mar 99.
