IN A SOLICITATION. The National Institute of Environmental Health
Sciences (NIEHS) is performing a market search for contractors who can
test chemicals for estrogenic activity. The tests that we are most
interested in are: (1) uterotropic assay in immature female mice, (2)
transcriptional activation in cultured mammalian cells using both
estrogen receptor alpha and estrogen receptor beta from mice and
humans, and (3) competitive binding assays with mouse alpha and beta
estrogen receptors. It is not necessary that any single laboratory be
capable of conducting all three types of assays. The applicable SIC
Code is 8731 with a size standard of 500 employees. Interested offerors
should provide information that demonstrates corporate experience in
any of the following technical areas: (1) animal husbandry, toxicology,
histology, and immunocytochemistry; (2) mammalian cell culture and
transfection with DNA vectors, (3) biochemical analyses, and/or (4)
receptor binding, scintillation counting. Additionally, interested
offerors should provide information that demonstrates availability of
facilities, equipment and highly competent and experienced personnel to
perform the types of assays described above. ANY INTERESTED FIRM SHOULD
SUBMIT A BRIEF CAPABILITY STATEMENT (maximum 3 pages) WHICH
DEMONSTRATES THE FIRM'S ABILITY TO PROVIDE THE REQUIREMENT DISCUSSED
ABOVE. STANDARD COMPANY BROCHURES ARE NOT DESIRED. INFORMATION SHOULD
