Automative and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and
Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC) will be issuing a solicitation for
light vehicle lethality concept development on or about March 16, 1999.
The primary purpose of this effort is to establish a hybrid cannon
lethality based concept solutions/analysis to support the U.S. Army's
vision of lethal, more deployable (i.e. C-130 aircraft transportable)
combat vehicles for near-term (2005) fielding and their evolution into
solutions for a Future Combat Vehicle variants fieldable in 2010-2015.
The effort will demonstrate through, concept development and analysis,
the feasibility of obtaining a robust multi-role, multi-mission defeat
capability, in both line- of-sight and non line-of-sight, against
advanced heavy armored threats protected with explosive reactive armor,
light armored vehicles, buildings, bunkers, personnel, etc. Interested
sources will be required to submit a White Paper proposal response to
the solicitation. Interested sources must demonstrate experience in
lethality concept development and clearly depict an evolutionary
approach from near-term lethality system solutions to 2010 fieldable
soluctions through advancements in technology. This will be a full and
open competitive action. The solicitation will be available from the
