intends to award a sole source contract to McCullough Engineering &
Contracting for the replacing and redesign of the Rock Barrier Trap
located at Timpanogos Cave Natl Monument, Utah. This proposed action is
for services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate
with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested parties
may identify their interest and capability to respond to the
requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive
proposals, however, all expressions of interest received within 15
calendar days of the date of publication of this synopsis will be
considered by the Government. A determinate by the Government not to
compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is
solely within the discretion of the Governnment. Information received
in response to this notice will be used solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The work
consists of furnishing equipment, materials and personnel to replace
existing metal rock barrier doors, installation of site access safety
line, and replacement of a channeling chainlink fence. The location of
the barrier site is near the entrance of Timpanogos Cave, accessed by
a mile and three quarters trail and elevation increase of 1200 ft.
above the canyon floor. Contract evaluation factors being considered in
the order of importance: 1. Familiarity with the site/emphasis on
Safety. Due to location of rock barrier doors and site, requires
personnel access barrier site utilizing monument cave trail, once at
cave entrance, workers traverse steep rock ledges, talus slopes, and
loose rocks to project site. Emphasis on safety to site requires
personnel wear safety harnesses, and site being tied off during actual
performance of work. All supplies and materials will be required to be
air-lifted from canyon floor to project site. 2. Prospective
contractors need to be familiar with work in high risk area. Work site
is located in a "rock-slide" area. Danger of falling rock can occur at
any time. Contractors must show jobs similar in nature and show good
quality of work as well as good safety record. 3. Experience in dealing
with work under hazardous conditions, References Required. The job site
is located at Timpanogos Cave National Monument, Utah County, Utah. The
estimated price range for all work is between $35,000-$55,000. Posted
