(SSA), Region II, seeks a contractor to supply and install
approximately 160 replacement gear motors used in the Mosler Telelift
Model 1700 self-propelled car (vehicle). The vehicles are used in the
Automated Mail Distribution System at the Adabbo Federal Building in
Jamaica, New York. The contractor shall remove and dispose of existing
motors, and provide, install and test new motors. Request for
Quotations is scheduled to be issued approximately March 15, 1999 with
quotations due approximately April 8, 1999. This is a 100 % small
business set aside. All responsible sources may submit a quotation
which shall be considered by the agency. All requests for RFQs must be
submitted in writing. The following is a general description of the
characteristics of the motors to be supplied. It is intended for
informational purposes only. The RFQ will contain the updated and final
technical specifications. The following is not all-inclusive and is
subject to change upon reevaluation by SSA: 1.1 The gear motor shall
consist of a gear box with a "Spiroid" type gear design attached to a
high torque 1/6HP permanent magnet 24 volt DC monitor. 1.2 The
"Spiroid" type gear drive shall be self-locking. Provision for an
externally mounted electrical brake will not be acceptable. 1.3 The
motor shall not draw in excess of 12 amperes under full load and shall
be capable of propelling the car containing the 25 lb payload over
unrestricted vertical and horizontal distances. 1.4 The continuous duty
gear motor shall produce 40 inch pounds of torque and an output RPM of
90. 1.5 The steel pinion and steel gear wheel shall be protected by an
extreme pressure lubricant for increased thermal capacity and extended
service life. 1.6 Motor Armature brushes shall be designed for
replacement and extended service life. 1.7 Seals shall be of "Viton"
for high temperature and extended service life. 1.8 The motor bell
housing shall provide mounting holes for an externally mounted thermal
and current detector. 1.9 The mounting position shall be both
