This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This solicitation is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-10. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 5731 and the Small Business Size Standard is $6.5M. The Volpe Center plans to solicit a sole-source simplified acquisition purchase from F.M. Valenti, Inc., Nahant, MA, to provide Loronix M-8-mini digital video recording systems and review software for use in compiling grade crossing event statistics. This proposed action is for equipment that the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered, solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Solicitation No. DTRS57-99-Q-80042 is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ). All interested sources must identify the product by submitting pricing data and an accurate description of the equipment offered, which includes the make and model numbers. If there are no responses received by close of business March 3, 1999, a Firm Fixed purc hase order will be awarded to the above named source.
