This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Measurement Systems which will provide validation data for several instruments on the AM-1, 1-147.CAB.1760 which was posted on February 16, 1999. You are notified that the following changes are made: NASA/Larc plans to purchase the National Instruments Data System in order to maintain backwards compatibility with existing National Instruments VXI flight-ready hardware. The existing VXI computer supports the real-time data acquisition of scientific instruments being flown on LaRC sponsored flight programs. Both scientific instruments and the real-time data acquisition software will be exchanged on a routine basis between the new and existing VSI systems. The new VXI system can serve as a backup to the other in order to maintain flight mission schedules. It is imperative that the computer, the data acquisition software, and the operating environment be identical to facilitate these routine exchanges and provide backup capability. The due date for receipt ofquotes is extended to March 1, 1999.
