The Social Security Administration (SSA) is attempting to identify responsible vendors that can provide SSA management with token-ring segment utilization and protocol distribution reports. SSA's Network Performance Team is seeking vendors that can provide toke-ring probes and token-ring probe data collection and reporting software. THE SOFTWARE MUST, AT A MINIMUM: 1) be able to query and report on data from all RMON1 and ROMN2 groups; 2) be at least 90 percent accurate when audited against other monitors; 3) meet the SSA 8 salient characteristics listed below; 4) provide a user-friendly web interface for management to access reports; and 5) be able to automatically schedule and produce simple line graph reports. THE SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS ARE AS FOLLOWS: a) configuration and setup of software/hardware must be completed within maximum of 2-3 days; b) software must be capable of producing token-ring segment utilization reports, which include token-ring source route broadcast as a percentage of total bandwidth consumed; c) software must be capable of reporting protocol distribution analysis including high-level and sub-layer protocol analysis, i.e. TCP/IP (TCP, UDP, FTP, TELNET, HTTP, etc.); d) software must be able to produce protocol/application utilization reports to show peak hour and total traffic volume as a line graph chart; e) software must have web-based reports access that includes multi-level report summary and security restrictions for access; f) software must have the ability to schedule reports for generation on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, all files from automatically generated reports must have the option of creating unique filenames; g) software must be capable of capturing data from SNMP sources and saving collection in a data repository for reporting purposes; h) must be Year 2000 compliant, compatible with Windows NT server and/or workstation, and Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser version 4.0, and i) SSA will require the vendor to demonstrate compliance of items a through h by allowing the vendor to configure the tools to produce the results. The above salient characteristics constitute the minimum requirements for the evaluation of the software product the potential vendor will submit for testing. The testing period will last for approximately 14 calendar days after product installation. The software will be installed on Windows NT server version 4.0 located at SSA's National Computer Center, Baltimore, Maryland. SSA has only been able to identify one source capable of satisfying its needs. Therefore, if no other responses are received, or if responses received are unable to satisfy SSA's mandatory requirements as detailed above, SSA shall issue a sole source award under FAR PART 13.5 Simplified Acquisition- Test Program for Certain Commercial Items to NextPoint Networks, Inc. for the current and future purchase and support of their NextPoint S3 software as required by the agency. Responsible organizations possessing the requisite expertise and resources are invited to submit information concerning their pricing, capabilities, experience, and other pertinent data (including GSA contract information). Any literature, or information submitted as a response to this notice, must contain enough information attesting to the capability of a product offered to meet SSA's requirements.
