E-MAIL: NIST Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with U. S. Filter Corporation, Beltsville, Maryland, for services to provide labor, equipment, and materials to inspect and maintain the Pure Water System at NIST, Building 227, Gaithersburg, Maryland. This is a state of the art system designed to provide high quality water for researchers to perform experiments. Equipment to be covered shall be listed on the Order Acceptance Document. Services shall also include emergency services, if required. Maintenance shall be done monthly in accordance with a service frequency agreement. The contractor shall provide factory trained technicians who are certified with ongoing products and safety training. The contractor shall provide all documentation of all of the components operation.. This is a sole source requirement with the U.S. Filter Corporation, Beltsville, Maryland, because they are the manufacturer of the Pure Water System. This vendor has the required spare parts inventory and personnel with the expertise to maintain this system. The acquisition method shall be a Request for Quotation with an estimated award date of April 1, 1999. . The period of performance is from date of award for a period of one year with four additional one year option periods (F.O.B. Destination, Gaithersburg, Maryland). This notice is not a Request for Quotation. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to satisfy the Government's requirements no later than the response date above. Capability statements must include documentation of experience and expertise in all areas pertinent to the proposed project. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
