U.S. EPA Contracts Management Division -- Cincinnati,
schellhas.hans@epamail.epa.gov. The U.S. EPA requires a system of
instrumentation that can be used to continuously monitor the lower
atmospheric boundary layer wind/temperature profile. The purpose of the
system is to provide measurements of the thermal and wind boundary
layer from the surface up to at least 200 meters. These measurements
are to be used to provide boundary layer conditions to initialize a
numerical simulation of human exposures to local pollution. The system
shall include measurement of surface net radiation, vertical profiles
of air temperature, and vertical profiles of wind speed, direction and
turbulence. The system shall be easily transportable, set up, and
operational at remote sites near roadways, within residential, urban
building environments, and industrial areas. The operational aspects
and potential limitations of operation within these type of areas
should be addressed. All hardware and supporting software shall be
integrated and delivered as a single system. The system shall integrate
all measurements and data analyses into a central common data
processing, logging, and analyses system at the field base station. In
addition this central site shall be linked through telemetry to a home
base system for data monitoring. In addition the measurements collected
on the portable tripods shall be able to operate independent of the
central system when they will be operated in a portable mode away from
the central site in order to characterize the surface area surrounding
the central site. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which
shall be considered by U.S. EPA. All requests for the RFQ must be in
writing. No telephone requests will be accepted. Facsimile is
acceptable. The facsimile number is (513) 487-2109. Posted 03/01/99
