The US Department of Justice, Justice Management Division, Facilities and Administration Services Staff (FASS), intends to issue as a small business set-aside a solicitation for the Design, Demolition, and Construction of a new addition to a student lounge located in a student residence building at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Charleston, South Carolina. Contractor shall supply all equipment, materials, supplies, tools, and personnel necessary to accomplish this requirement. Contract work shall have minimum impact to the operations of the existing facility. Award will only be made to one company under this solicitation. The estimated magnitude of this project is $250,000 to $500,000. Estimated issue date is March 26, 1999, with a due date for receipt of proposals 30 days after issuance. There will be two walk through's scheduled on consecutive days for this requirement approximately two weeks after the solicitation has been issued. Both walk through's will be mandatory, no exceptions, due to the fact there are no drawings for the addition which is currently in place. The first walk through will allow contractors to initially evaluate the site. The second walk through will be for those contractors who are interested to more closely examine the site and establish their design criteria. Times for these will be posted within the solicitation. Construction documents will be provided with the solicitation. Interested firms who qualify as a small business should request solicitation JPJMD-99-0015 by sending a written request and a check for $25 made out to the Department of Treasury, mailed to the Contracting Officer, Erich Fischer, to the address stated above.
