Raytheon, the system Developer, is the only source that can successfully implement this strategy, within schedule and cost. This acquisition is for the continued development of the Advanced Field Artillery Tachical Data Systems (AFATDS). This continued development is entitled AFATDS 02-04. The AfATDS 02 is a multi-service effort (U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps) with interoperability/interface to U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Systems. AFATDS is being incrementally developed with a fielding release schedule of every 15 months. A strawman Solicitation will be placed on the Army Business Opportunity Page on or about 19 March 1999.
