jbaldwin@natick-notes02.army.mil SOLE SOURCE: The U.S. Army Soldier and
Biological Chemical Command (SBCCOM) has a requirement to experiment
with Non Lethal Grenades for inclusion in the joint Army/Marine Corp --
Military Operations in Urban Terrain -- Advanced Concept Technology
Demonstration (MOUT ACTD). The items that potentially met the Non
Lethal Grenade MOUT ACTD Requirement No.34 (R34) as described at the
MOUT ACTD Web Site: "http//:yorktown.dc.isx.com/mout/index.html" were
evaluated in small quantities during USMC Exp # 2 at Camp Lejeune NC
during August 1998. Based on that experiment, it was determined that
additional quantities of the NICO 1 flash-bang product, training
grenade bodies and the training grenade reloads would be purchased from
R/M Equipment, Inc. (Miami, FL) for the Joint Experiments (JE1 and JE2)
and the Culminating Demonstration (CD). This Command is planning to
purchase 240 units of the NICO flash-bang for JE1 to be delivered no
later than 15 May 1999 to Camp Lejeune, NC; 240 units for JE2 to be
delivered no later than 15 Jul 1999 to Ft. Benning, GA; and an option
to purchase 480 units for CD to be delivered no later than February
2000 to Ft. Polk, LA. In addition, 96 units of the training grenade
bodies and 960 units of the reloads will be procured and delivered to
Fort Benning, GA. Anyone wishing to inquire about this announcement
