Miles 301-227-1159 Lynn Rowe 301-227-1100 The Naval Surface Warfare
Center, Carderock Division is seeking sources sought with the
capability to provide trash/recycling containers suitable for use
aboard U.S. Navy Ships. These containers will allow for the segregation
of shipboard solid waste, i.e. food, paper, cardboard, plastics, metal
and glass for later processing, recycling and/or disposal. The
following are desired, but not mandatory, characteristics of the
subject containers: Containers should be available in three different
sizes: small (approximately 10-13 gallons) for staterooms, medium
(approximately 18-25 gallons) for office or workspaces, and large
(approximately 30-40 gallons) for crew eating areas, -- Containers
shall be lightweight and corrosion resistant, -- Containers should be
stackable to conserve deck space when not in use, -- A container with
multiple interior chamber areas for separating differenct kinds for
waste products is also acceptable, -- Containers interior chamber(s)
should be capable for being lines with a standards size plastic liner
bag, -- Containers lids are optional. If provided, lids can be either
permanently attached to the container or be removable. Removable lids
should have a capability of being secured to the container to help
reduce the possibility of becoming lost or misplaced, -Containers
should be rugged and capable of withstanding rough handling,
*Containers exteriors should be available in different colors, and --
Annual requirements for each size containder are estimated at 5000.
Potential sources with off-the-shelf technology that would meet the
criteria above are required to provide information describing their
container manufacturing experience and product lines. Responses to this
synopsis are requested with 30 days from date of publication. This
synopsis is for information purposes and to identify capable potential
offerors. It does not constitutes a Request for Proposal and is not
