Division, roe.kathleen@epamail.epa.gov. The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, National Exposure Research Laboratory requests has
a requirement for a "Fully Integrated GC-MS System for analysis of
whole air canister based samples including an autosampler and dual
stage cryogenic focussing". The contractor shall provide a fully
integrated, turn-key system to perform analyses for volatile organic
compounds and a subset of semi-volatile organic compounds present at
trace levels in ambient air samples, exhaled breath samples, and other
gas phase samples of environmental interest. The system shall
accommodate sample processing performed from a minimum 16 position
autosampler that can accommodate 1 liter up to 6 liter standard SUMMA
canisters, cryogenically focus (preconcentrate) an aliquot of sample,
cryogenically refocus the analytes in the carrier gas matrix, and
inject onto an analytical column for subsequent GC-MS analysis. This
system must be free of organic materials that may compromise trace
level detection of complex mixtures of gas phase pollutants; all
surfaces wetted by sample must be inert and restricted to materials
like fused silica, high purity nickel, stainless steel, etc. The system
shall be fully automated and be capable of unattended sequential
analysis. It shall be capable of standard EPA Method TO-14 analysis as
well as trace level analysis of traditionally polar compounds such as
light alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, higher thiols, and amines. The
system shall demonstrate sensitivity for very light compounds including
methanol, isobutane, isoprene, chloromethane, Freon 12, and vinyl
chloride in the presence of coeluting water vapor, carbon dioxide and
incidental air background from the sample matrix. Installation,
acceptance testing/demonstration, manuals and warranty shall be
included. The equipment shall be listed and labeled by a third party
listing agency approved by the NC Building Code Council. This
procurement will be processed in accordance with FAR Part 12,
Acquisition of Commercial Items. Requests for an RFQ must be mailed,
faxed or e-mailed to the above POC not later than 3/22/99. Please
include a complete mailing address and fax number. All quotations
submitted received by the date stated in the RFQ will be considered by
the Government. Posted 03/05/99 (W-SN305322). (0064) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0353 19990309\66-0001.SOL)
