of 5 detectors: forward scatter, side scatter, and 3 epifluorescence
detectors; (2) Minimum capability of 3 lasers lines simultaneously. For
example, using a laser that provides 180 mW power at 488 nm and 50 mW
at 351-364 nm with beam splitter to provide UV/488 illumination and a
laser that provides 35 mW at 633 nm. Requires three laser slots, one
for UV, one for 488, and one for the HeNE or second laser; (3) Computer
for analysis of minimum 48 megabytes RAM, 2 megabytes VRAM, and 2
gigabyte hard drive, with 10 Base-T Ethernet connector, 20" color
monitor; (4) Calibration beads; (5) Installation, training, and 1 year
warranty; (6) Sorting by electromagnet charge sorting, NOT mechanical
sorting; (7) Ability to sort on at least 5 detectors simultaneously;
(8) Ability to adjust and align all lasers, using standards; (9)
Ability to sort using non-rectangular sort windows; (10) Ability to
adjust side stream and droplet rate; (11) Ability to sort at high
speed; (12) Intensive training course for a minimum of two individuals;
(13) Flexibility in triggering and gatin; (14) Simultaneous
multiparameter analysis; (15) Software package that allows multivariate
analysis and counting concurrent to sorting, and multivariate analysis
and counting after sorting, allowing generation of publication quality
output including: histograms, and dot plots; (16) System shall be
listed and labeled by a third party listing agency approved by the NC
Building Code Council. For further specifications see "Practical Flow
Cytometry, Third Edition" by Howard M. Shapiro, Wiley-Liss Inc., NY,
