Provide site investigation, design and construction period services for
project, "Pathology CAP Deficiencies" at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare
System, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, Bldg. 1, 2nd floor. It is the
intent of this project to renovate approximately 20,000 gsf of existing
laboratory space in order to be in compliance with CAP specifications.
The project will create an "open type lab". This will be done by
looking at the utilization of space, providing schemes for maximizing
space available and providing drawings and specifications for the
renovation of the project. Work includes modifications to HVAC and
other varous mechanical systems. Also includes work to electrical
systems, architectural finishes and demolition drawing services. The
A/E will design project work to meet VA, OSHA and NEC electrical
requirements and shall investigate and inspect the existing area to
improve the lab and make sure that we have the appropriate utilities
for the necessary equipment required to meet CAP specifications. The
A/E will design and prepare working drawings and specifications,
perform site visits, construction period services as the owner's
technical representative and reproduce construction contract documents.
Drawings: The drawings shall be 1/8" scale plan and shall provide the
following information: A) Show exact locations of existing conditions
and limits of construction. B) Provide detail sections, notes and other
information that is necessary to complete bid documents. C) Prepare
project specifications by editing the VA Master Specifications. D)
Provide an integrated phasing plan for construction. The A/E will
provide four review sessions to the VA for comments and revisions. Four
sets of documents shall be furnished for each review. Twenty sets of
drawings and five sets of specifications are required at 100%
completion 10 days after final approval. All construction drawings
shall be provided on AutoCad V.14 and all specifications shall be
provided on Microsoft Word V.6.0. The estimated construction cost range
is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 and is subject to the availability
of funds. This acquisition is open to both small and large businesses
located within a 100 mile radius of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare
System, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA. The standard industrial
classification code is 8712. Firms desiring consideration shall submit
two copies of forms SF254 and SF255 to arrive no later than close of
business (4:30pm) 3/22/99 with cover letter of interest directly to the
