COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 9,1999 PSA#2298TRAINING DEVICE SOFTWARE PACKAGE FOR THE M1A1 TANK Proposed Sole Source
Award to Research Triangle Institute, 3040 Cornwallis Road, Research
Triangle Park, NC 27709-2194. The Government requires update of the
M1A1 Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMAT) software package currently in
use at Fort Knox, KY. Several issues exist with the current system.
They include (1) Year 2000 compliance, (2) current supportability, (3)
performance, and (4) user friendliness. In addition, the training
lesson content must be updated to reflect the latest version of the
Technical Manuals provided by Fort Knox. The following list summarizes
the desired capabilities: 1. Update lessons so that references,
descriptions, and procedures match M1A1 Technical Manuals (March 1996,
Change 3 for the -20s and September 1990, Change 12 for the -10s). 2.
Update the Operating System, Visual Graphics, Authoring System, and
Software Executable media to currently supportable, Y2K compliant, and
commercially available versions. 3. Upon completion, the training
software package is required to be deployable, user friendly, and high
performance when executing on the targeted host platform. 4. Delivery
of 5 demonstration disks. No specifications are available. The period
of performance is 60 days. POC for this effort is Suanne Voltz,
Contract Specialist, (407)380-4163, or William Kitterman, Contracting
Officer, (407)380-8171. Posted 03/05/99 (W-SN305521). Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0523 19990309\SP-0004.MSC)
