On or about 18 March 1999, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of CALIFORNIA BEND PROJECT, MISSOURI RIVER, HARRISON COUNTY, IA. Bids will be opened on or about 21 April 1999. SOLICITATION OF BIDS WILL BE RESTRICTED TO SMALL BUSINESS FIRMS. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact Offutt Resident Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, P.O. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) The project consists of dredging approximately 112,000 cubic yards of material to construct a pilot channel that is approximately 4,000 feet long. Also included is placement of riprap at the upstream end of the pilot channel. Project is located in Harrison County, Iowa, along the left bank of the Missouri River between river miles 649.5 and 650.5. The project is located approximately 4 miles southwest of Modale, Iowa. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work within 360 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
