The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is requesting information for the Handheld Mortar Ballistics Computer. The U.S. Marine Corps is conducting market research to seek sources, contract vehicles, technical information, and approximate costing for the Handheld Mortar Ballistics Computer. MARCORSYSCOM is seeking potential sources capable of providing handheld, semi-ruggedized, battery operated computing devices to be used for computing firing missions for mortars, inclusive of shell type, fusing, and charge for US and NATO mortar munitions. The device shall have the capability to store ballistics data (e.g., firing tables), targets, meteorological data, and map data. Computational capabilities shall require the device to integrate map data with fire support coordination measures to generate a ballistics solution. Desired physical characteristics of the device include: Maximum weight of 8 lbs; minimum battery life of 24-hrs; 64mb RAM, 233Mhz processing speed, 4gb storage, and Win32 or CE operating system.
