COBALT CALIBRATION SOURCE REMOVAL Subcontractor must have electromagnets and grappling tools to retrieve the source from the bottom of a water-filled calibration shaft located at the Nevada Test Site.. Total depth is approximately 40 feet. The well tube diameter is approximately 10 inches. Subcontractor must provide a radioactive source cask to store and transport the cobalt source after retrieval. The source cannot be handled unshielded. The Subcontractor will reuse or recycle the cobalt source materials.
