354-4017 PRESOLICITATION NOTICE: Furnish all labor, material and
equipment necessary to replace the roof at U.S. Coast Guard Rockaway
Station, Queens, NY. The work includes replacement of the existing
asphalt shingle roofing, decking repairs, chimney repointing, new
flashing in various locations and miscellaneous associated work. This
Request for Quotations is being issued pursuant to the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and
small business participation. It is estimated between $25,000 and
$100,000. The applicable SIC Code is 1761. The tentative closing date
for receipt of quotations is 19 April 1999. Bid packages will be
available on or about 25 March 1999 at a non-refundable charge of $19.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print
and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City,
NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. For minority, women
owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of
Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid,
performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The
maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further information and
