Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia, intends to negotiate
a sole source procurement under the authority of Federal Acquisition
Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, with Shepeard Community Blood Center for
autologous blood, red cells; platelet concentrates, random donor;
platelet phereses; red cells, allogeniec; and fresh frozen plasma for
the period April 15, 1999 through April 14, 2000. Contract requires
supplier to collect, process, label, store and transport red cells
donations from VA autologous patients to VA Medical Center, Augusta,
Georgia Transfusion Service to allow donations before surgery to be
used after surgery if needed. Methods, procedures and protocols
determination or suitability, for collection, testing/processing,
labeling, storage, and transport must be in accordance with current
FDA/AABB requirements. Products must be delivered or available for
pickup so that delivery to the Transfusion Service will occur within 30
minutes from the time the order is placed with thesupplier. This Notice
of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested
persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the
requirement or submit proposals. A determination by the Government not
to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice
is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information
received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining
whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All responses must be
