RFP SP4420-99-R-0008, Service contract for a variety of services to include the inspecting proper identification,packaging,loading,removal, transportation, unloading, and recycling of lithium batteries located at various sites on Okinawa,Japan. SP4420-99-R-0008 will be issued on or about 3 Apr 99. Approximate closing date is 17 May 99. This solicitation will result in a requirements type contract being awarded to one contractor. This contract will be for a 12 month period. Performance will be requested by issuance of written delivery orders against the basic contract. Qualifications: prospective contractors or subcontractor must be able to meet japanese environmental laws and regulations as well as any applicable european or international agreements governing the transport,handling,storage and disposal/recycling of lithium batteries. International and european union regulations shall apply to the transboundary movement of wastes from one country to another. The contractor shall comply with the May 1989basel convention on the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal. These standards apply not only to ther country in which the waste is generated and recycled but also any transient countries through which the waste is transported, including the United States of America and Canada.
