The Los Alamos National Laboratory, operated by the University of California for the Department of Energy (DOE), Los Alamos, New Mexico, hereinafter referred to as the "Laboratory," requires Design-Build services for the design and construction of a supercomputing facility. The project is titled "Design-Build of the Strategic Computing Complex (SCC)." This notice is targeted for firms dominant in the field of design-build of large projects similar to the SCC. The SCC will be an estimated 267,000 gross square feet with a 43,500 square foot unobstructed computer room. It must be capable of both air and water cooling of computers. It must include a scalable building capacity starting at 7.1 MW power and 130,000 GPD water -- expandable as the need dictates. The SCC includes: design simulation laboratories (classified and unclassified), offices/work areas, visualization centers, collaborative laboratories, visualization theaters, and a 200-seat auditorium. The estimated cost range of the project is between $50M and $70M. The Laboratory will utilize a two-phased selection process, phase one being the request for qualifications (RFQ), and phase two being the request for proposals (RFP).
