Research, Development and Engineering Center has a requirement for a
commercial or non developmental 7.62mm Ball and Tracer cartridge
manufactured with lead-free, non-toxic projectiles components.
Ammunition is intended for service use and should provide a level of
performance requirements comparable to the current M80 Ball and M62
Tracer rounds. If complete cartridges are supplied with the projectile
cores they should be functionally compatible with military 7.62mm
weapon systems including machine gun and rifle without requiring weapon
modifications or ancillary equipment. Cartridges must present no
unusual risks or hazards to the user. All projectiles must be free of
toxic materials. Information on lead encapsulated projectiles need not
be submitted. All interested sources may submit infor- mation on their
product with company name, telephone number and technical point of
contact. Product information should include, projectile weight, and
composition of projectile components and production status. Samples may
be submitted with the product information. Information on complete
cartridge should include ballistic data such as peak pressure, velocity
and dispersion, if available. Respondents should submit their data to
